Art the Arctic Puffin Part 1

Hi there and welcome to Part 1 of Art the Arctic Puffin! I’m so excited to be a part of this awesome Adorable World of Arctic Animals Crochet Along and I’m sure you’re excited to make Art, so let’s get to it!

Hopefully, you were able to catch the post about what supplies you need and you have everything ready. If not, here’s what you’ll need for the entire project:

Today, we will begin with the head and body, which are made in one piece (yay for less sewing!)

The abbreviations that we will be using today are:

  • sc- single crochet
  • inc- increase
  • st(s)- stitch(es)
  • dec- decrease

Would you like a handy printable note card to help keep your abbreviations straight? Sign up for access to my resource library and get yours today!

Some pattern notes/reminders before we get into it.

This pattern uses US terminology.
( )- denote a group of stitches worked in the same stitch.
[ ]- denote a group of stitches that is repeated as many times as stated.
If the number follows the abbreviation (such as “inc 5”), you will work the instructed stitch that many times over successive stitches (in the example, increase in each of the next 5 stitches).
Rounds are worked in spiral rounds without joining, unless otherwise stated. A stitch marker is helpful to keep track of rounds (mark the first stitch in each round).
The body and head are made in one piece, starting with the body, but there is a label for when the head starts.
